Mistborn: Final Empire Book Club Questions
Welcome to the Buddy Book Club – we have a light-hearted comedic podcast that covers a variety of books. Mistborn: Final Empire by Brandon Sanderson is one of our favorite fantasy novels or really books in general. It currently sits at #2 & #5 in our rankings. Our book club questions try to be a little more outside the box/comedic than your typical book club questions – hopefully you enjoy them.
Book Club Questions – Mistborn: Final Empire by Brandon Sanderson
-> Who is your favorite character in the book?
Sazed was ours, someone that doesn’t get a lot of the credit but is crucial in many ways to Kelsier and Vin.
-> If you couldn’t be Mistborn, and only could posses one of the powers, which one would you choose?
I think burning Pewter and getting enhanced physical capabilities would be great when you’re young and being a soother burning brass would be great when you’re older.
-> Mistwraith take the qualities of the things they consume, if you were a Miswraith what or who are you eating to take on the best possible form?
I’m eating a mix of cheetah, The Rock, an owl, and a whale.
-> Is Yeden the real villain in this book?
First he’s hires Kelsier, but basically refuses to get his hands dirty, just complains the whole time, then he takes all of the potential troops and gets them killed. He was worthless.
-> Why haven’t we created trains similar to how Mistborns travel between cities?
I want to see flying trains!
-> Does the Spook and Vin relationship remind you a bit of Forrest Gump and Jenny relationship?
Spook basically is saying this throughout the book.
-> Did Kelsier pull a Bugs Bunny from Space Jam and pump up his guys, but in a negative way?
Instead of beating the Goon Squad after the pump up speech, the fake confidence he instilled led to all the soldiers being slaughtered.
-> How did Marsh kill 7 steel inquisitors so easily?
Marsh just got his powers and was able to seemingly easily take down 7 steel inquisitors (after finding out their secret), how do you think he pulled that off?
-> Kelsier martyring himself the ultimate sacrifice or an egotistical move to become a god?
We were a big fan of Kelsier so we leaned more towards the former, but both cases could be argued.
-> Do you think the new government formation made sense?
I think the nobles shouldn’t have remained in power, they should of had to live as Skaas for a couple of years to understand the plight.
-> Who would you cast in a Mistborn movie?
