Mistborn: Well of Ascension Book Club Questions
Welcome to the Buddy Book Club – we have a light-hearted comedic podcast that covers a variety of books. Mistborn: Well of Ascension by Brandon Sanderson is the second book in the Mistborn series. We typically don’t read books this long or read sequels but the first (which we covered on our podcast in two parts 1 & 2) was just too good. The series currently sits at #2 & #5 in our rankings. You can check out the podcast, on the Well of Ascension here or check out our take on the potential movie adaption.
Our book club questions try to be a little more outside the box/comedic than your typical book club questions – hopefully you enjoy them.
Book Club Questions – Mistborn: Well of Ascension by Brandon Sanderson
-> Who was your favorite character in the second book? Who were your favorite new characters?
For us, it was the same answer for both, Tindwyl is awesome.
-> Who did you have pegged for the spy amongst them?
I for sure thought it was going to be Spook – he seems like the butt of all the jokes in this book and the last.
-> Who are the most underrated characters in this book?
We had the unheralded chemists/metal workers who help Vin discover Duralumin.
-> Why were the Skaa not trained to defend the city?
What exactly are they doing other than hiding in their homes ready to get slaughtered.
-> If you couldn’t be Mistborn, and only could posses one of the powers, which one would you choose?
Liked the idea of Breeze constantly soothing everyone around him, be a great guy to be around, would love to have him at parties making sure everyone was having a good time.
-> What did you think of the Elend’s sudden turn from a guy that preached diplomacy one second to attacking Jastes the next?
Seems like he went 0-100 pretty quickly. He follows that up by next attacking a Koloss.
-> In some ways are humans already Terrisman?
We “store” knowledge by studying and doing research, we “store” energy by eating right and sleeping well, we strain our body and become weaker by slightly tearing muscles in order to gain strength.
-> As a big fan of Kelsier in the last book, do you think some of the hate that was aimed at him in this book was justified?
The dude died to free the slaves, seems like that should be the focus and not some of his character flaws.
->What did you think of Zane and his relationship with Vin?
Seemed a bit forced, but not surprising that Vin, who fell in love with Elend in 2 seconds, would also fall in love in Zane so quickly.
-> Is TenSoon saying, “You’re too smart to think that” to Vin the best way to win an argument?
Yes, impossible to lose an argument saying this.
->What did you think of the ending? Is Sazed going to turn evil after seeing the love of his life and everything he believes destroyed?
I love Sazed, but it would make for a great villain origin story.
-> Would you recommend this book to a friend?
We like the first one better, thought this could be a bit shorter, but still was a super fun book with a great ending.
-> Who would you cast in a Mistborn movie?
