We’re All Lying Book Club Questions
Welcome to the Buddy Book Club – we have a light-hearted comedic podcast that covers a variety of books. We were lucky enough to get an early sneak peak of We’re All Lying by Marie Still and do an interview with the author! Check out the podcast episode and interview if interested.
The back of the book actually provides some Book Club questions, but our book club questions try to be a little more outside the box/comedic than your typical book club questions – hopefully you enjoy them.
Book Club Questions – We’re All Lying by Marie Still
-> Did you feel bad for Alice at times?
Yes, she was the Randall Weems of the office, but throughout her whole life she’s been shit on/made fun of, even Alice treats her like dirt when she sees her out in public.
-> Not many likeable characters in the book who was your favorite?
I like Alice myself, I sympathized with her and thought in many ways her character made sense. At least she has her reasons unlike Ethan…
-> What is the deal with Ethan? Why is her a serial cheater with no remorse, and most importantly why does he collect items from his past conquests?
Is he a serial killer? I just didn’t understand his motivations or two-faceness. He’s more of a sociopath than Alice in my mind.
-> How do you think you would react if you were in Cass’ shoes?
Personally, I’d be a lot more spiteful, and I’d have filed for divorce instantly.
-> Did you start to question Cass when she decided to print out 642 pages of her hate mail?
Seems a tad much. Also, think of the trees!
-> What are your thoughts on the Coffee Vodka that Cass drinks?
We’re big fans, as we chatted with Marie about and have written extensively about coffee vodkas (CoVos) on the blog as well.
-> Did you have a favorite scene from the book? What stood out?
Emma disrupting the conference was the best scene for me — it’s when everything started to come crashing down.
-> Do you think an agency would drop a client because of the conference disruption?
It’s obviously a bad look, but probably would create a headline, and there is no such thing as bad press. I imagine the money issues would be a lot bigger red flag.
-> What are your thoughts on the quick chapters?
I loved them, felt like I was burning through the book and accomplishing a lot. I also happen to be a very slow reader.
-> Who would you cast in the We’re All Lying Movie?
We’ll be posting a Make it a Movie blog shortly, to help inspire.
