Wrong Place, Wrong Time Book Club Questions
Welcome to the Buddy Book Club – we have a light-hearted comedic podcast that covers a variety of books. Wrong Place, Wrong Time by Gillian McAllister is a time-bending thriller that follows Jen, a mother who witnesses her teenage son commit a shocking crime. Instead of facing the consequences, she finds herself traveling backwards in time, trying to unravel the mystery and prevent the crime from happening. If you enjoy criminal meet-cutes, juicy assets, and characters assuming fake identities for decades, then this book might be for you. For a deeper dive into the book’ and key topics like: the merits of emergency numbers and the importance of office donuts in job interviews, check out our podcast episode.
Our book club questions try to be a little more outside the box/comedic than your typical book club questions – hopefully you enjoy them.
Book Club Questions – Wrong Place, Wrong Time by Gillian McAllister
-> Is “criminal meet cute” the new rom-com trend we’ve all been waiting for?
Discuss the merits of meeting your significant other during a crime. Bonus points if you can come up with your own criminal meet cute scenario.
-> If you could travel back in time, would you bother writing work emails?
Or would you embrace the “future you” problem and binge-watch Seinfeld instead?
-> Is 999 objectively a better emergency number than 911?
Debate the merits of each number, considering factors like ease of dialing and potential for mix-ups during high-stress situations. Anyone else think confuse 911 and 991? Just me?
-> What would be your go-to answer for “What’s your greatest weakness?” in a job interview?
Is “office donuts” truly the perfect response, or can you come up with something even better?
-> If you had to assume a fake identity for 20 years, what profession would you choose?
Discuss the pros and cons of being a “painter/decorator” versus other potential cover jobs.
-> In a time loop scenario, would you prioritize saving your dad or appreciating how good-looking you were in the past?
Unfortunately, when we go back in time we’re still not good-looking.
-> Is Todd the unsung hero of this story?
Discuss the merits of being a science nerd who’s willing to stab a convict to save his family.
-> What would be your strategy for maintaining a 20-year undercover identity?
Would you go the “no friends, no personality” route, or risk it all for a fulfilling social life?
-> If you had to recommend a better time-travel book to a friend, what would it be?
We liked “Dark Matter” or “The Midnight Library”, both books we’ve covered on the podcast, a bit more than this one.
-> Who would you cast in the Wrong Place Wrong Time movie?
